KOLT Resources

Koç University Office of Learning and Teaching (KOLT) was established in November 2009, becoming the first office of its kind in Turkey. The mission of KOLT is to lead and support continual development of learning and teaching in KU. To achieve this mission, KOLT provides services to students, faculty members, and teaching assistants.

KOLT Teaching Innovation Grants (TIGs) 
- KOLT opens Teaching Innovation Grants program every semester. The program award grants to the faculty members and instructors to develop their teaching practices that lead to active student learning.  Funding may be requested for a wide variety of activities related to undergraduate and graduate level teaching such as course improvement/revision, curricular innovation, and integration of educational technologies (Blackboard, cliclers, vPad, etc.). Applications from individual faculty members as well as groups of faculty who collaborate to teach a course are welcome. Faculty members who are interested in this program are encouraged to attend Teaching Innovation Grants Workshops that are organized by KOLT at the end of each semester. Recipients of TIGs present their projects and KOLT staff will answer the participants’ questions about the TIG program application process. Faculty Members who wish to apply for Teaching Innovation Grants should follow the call for TIG program that is announced a month before the beginning of each academic semester. Koç University Visiting Scholar Program

2018 APPLICATIONS OPEN NOW!

Faculty members with research appointments (Asst. Prof., Assoc. Prof. or Prof.) can apply to take advantage of the Koç University Visiting Scholar Program, which has been managed by VPAA Office since Summer 2014. Applicants (other than those for Harvard) are expected to make arrangements with the University they wish to visit and to obtain an invitation from thereof. 

Similarly, we encourage faculty members to extend invitations to scholars working at international universities to participate in the Visiting Scholar Program at Koç University so that we can establish the foundations for research-oriented and long-lasting partnerships.

Koç University support for outgoing scholars include:

  • a stipend of USD 4000 (for 8-week visits),
  • a round-trip economy class airfare.
  • Outgoing participants are expected to make their own housing arrangements.  

Koç University support for incoming scholars who will be hosted by a Koç faculty include:

  • a round-trip economy class airfare,
  • accommodation at faculty housing at no cost (subject to availability).  

Faculty members interested in participating in this program to visit another university or to host a visiting researcher should first discuss their possible visits with their deans and secure their support, then they should send the application form* and other required documents to Selin AYDIN (selinaydin@ku.edu.tr).

Koç - Harvard Visiting Scholar Program

2018 APPLICATIONS OPEN NOW!

Harvard University - Koç University Visiting Scholar Program plays an important role in increasing collaborative efforts between the two universities. Since 2004, nearly 30 Koç University faculty members have participated in this program.

The program is managed in collaboration with the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) of Harvard University, however all faculty members with research appointments (Asst. Prof., Assoc. Prof. or Prof.) can apply for this program. Through this program, participants may also visit other departments if they make the arrangements themselves.

Koç University support for outgoing scholars include:

  • a stipend of USD 4000 (for 8-week visits,
  • a round-trip economy class airfare.
  • Outgoing participants are expected to make their own housing arrangements. 

Faculty members interested in participating in this program to visit Harvard University should first discuss their possible visits with their deans and secure their support, then they should send the application form* and other required documents to Selin AYDIN (selinaydin@ku.edu.tr).

Koç University Summer Professional Development Program for Lecturers and Instructors

2018 APPLICATIONS OPEN NOW!

Koç University Summer Professional Development Program for Lecturers and Instructors, managed by VPAA Office, has started in the summer of 2017 to support professional development of full-time lecturers and instructors working at Koç University. 

The objective of this program is to support full-time lecturers and instructors working at Koç University to participate in international programs that will support their professional development by visiting international universities and/or participating in training programs.

Applicants are expected to make arrangements for the summer visit and to obtain an invitation from the University in question.

Koç University support for outgoing scholars include:

  • a stipend of USD 2000 (for 4-week visits),
  • a round-trip economy class airfare.
  • Outgoing participants are expected to make their own housing arrangements. 

Full-time lecturers and instructors interested in participating in this program should first discuss their possible visits with their deans/directors and secure their support, then they should send the application form* and other required documents to Selin AYDIN (selinaydin@ku.edu.tr).
